The Ninth Annual IGF Meeting (IGF 2014) was held in Istanbul, Turkey on 2-5 September 2014. The overarching theme for the meeting was: “Connecting Continents for Enhanced Multistakeholder Internet Governance.”
Our co-directors, Dr. Laura DeNardis and Dr. Derrick Cogburn were both there presenting their respective new papers. Both were included in the session entitled “Multistakeholder governance and its alternatives.”
Mark Raymond, Laura Denardis and Fen Hampson presented The Emergence of Contention in Global Internet Governance and Derrick Cogburn discussed his paper Uncovering the Conceptual Antecedents of the NETMundial Outcome Document on the Future of Global Internet Governance. The next Internet Governance Forum, IGF 2015, will take place in João Pessoa, Brazil, on 10-13 November 2015. Dr. DeNardis will be attending and working on the following issues along with many other scholars, NGO’s and private and government representatives:
- cybersecurity and trust;
- the Internet economy;
- inclusiveness and diversity;
- enhancing multistakeholder cooperation;
- the Internet and human rights;
- critical Internet resources; and
- emerging issues.
