The discussion will feature expert faculty from AU, including School of Communication Associate Professor Dr. Krzysztof Pietroszek and World Languages and Cultures Professor Emerita Dr. Naomi Baron. Also serving as a panelist is Dr. Derrick L. Cogburn, Co-Director of the American University Internet Governance Lab (IGL) and Professor of both the Kogod School of Business and School of International Service. The keynote speaker will be Santiago Lyon, Head of Advocacy and Education for Adobe’s Content Authenticity Initiative. The panelists will explore how AI tools are revolutionizing ethical storytelling by automating processes like editing, analyzing large datasets, and improving fact-checking capabilities. While AI offers these advancements, the panel will also address the serious risks of AI-driven misinformation, the proliferation of deep fakes, and the growing erosion of trust in visual content.
