Dr. Laura DeNardis Offers Keynote at The Hague Program for Cyber Norms' Inaugural Cyberspace Conference

Faculty Director Dr. Laura DeNardis, Professor at the AU School of Communication (SOC), will offer a keynote address at the inaugural conference “Novel Horizons: Responsible Behaviour in Cyberspace” hosted by The Hague Program for Cyber Norms at Leiden University in The Hague, Netherlands. She will be joined by Faculty Fellow Dr. Tim Maurer and Doctoral Researcher Erica Diya Basu at the conference taking place from November 5-7, 2018.

The three-day conference will offer sessions on private sector involvement in cyber norms; international law and power; institutional perspectives and power; and industry and norms, among others.

Dr. DeNardis’ keynote entitled “The Internet of Things as a Global Policy Frontier” shares insights into what the Internet means for human existence and our future. She also discussed her forthcoming book on the governance of the Internet of Things.

Faculty Fellow Dr. Tim Maurer, Co-Director of the Cyber Policy Initiative at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, will present a session on cyberspace at the conference. Additionally, Doctoral Researcher Erica Diya Basu, SOC PhD candidate, will participate in the plenary and parallel sessions, particularly the sessions on regional cooperation and the role of non-state actors.
