Faculty Director Dr. Laura DeNardis is serving as a lead speaker and moderator at the 2018 State of the Field Workshop on the Digital Transformation hosted by the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University on June 15, 2018. She is moderating the panel “Platforms and Governance Issues in the Digital Age” and is serving as a lead speaker on the panel “Internet of Things and Governance in the Digital Age.”

In its fourth year, this Workshop, with support from the Carnegie Corporation, aims to develop new thinking and expertise at the intersection of digital technology, data, public policy and SIPA’s core fields. It engages a multistakeholder group of leading scholars, CEOs, entrepreneurs, legal and policy experts, and civil society members to identify and help solve future digital policy challenges in three areas: cybersecurity, internet governance, and the digital economy.

The 2018 Workshop builds on three previous annual gatherings – the SIPA Global Digital Futures Policy Forum – and is an invitation-only workshop that considers the state of academic and policy research while identifying critical policy issues and emerging digital policy issues.
