The Washington Post covers the potential ITU election of AU alumna Doreen Bogdan-Martin

In September, AU alumna Doreen Bogdan-Martin received the inaugural Outstanding Technology Policy Changemaker Award commemorating her exceptional service in the Internet policy field. Bogdan-Martin is the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Development Bureau Director and member of the Internet Governance Lab Alumni Expert Council. At the Internet Governance Lab, we are happy to celebrate inclusivity in technology policy by honoring our colleague Doreen Bogdan-Martin.

One year from now, the International Telecommunication Union will choose between U.S. candidate Doreen Bogdan-Martin and Russian candidate Rashid Ismailov to be the next secretary-general of the ITU for the following four years. The Washington Post recently covered the upcoming ITU elections and discussed Bogdan-Martin’s future goals for the entity. The piece features our Distinguished Fellow Fiona Alexander. The former associate administrator for international affairs at the Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration highlighted that “You have to work for every vote. You have to engage for every vote” in the next ITU election.
