Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) AI Workshop by IGL Co-Director on Oct 15th

The Digital Research and Inquiry Lab (DRIL) continues its AI Tools in Research workshop series with an engaging session on Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) AI for Research, taking place on October 15 at 3:00 p.m. in the American University Library. The workshop is taught by Dr. Derrick L. Cogburn, Professor in the School of International Service (SIS) and the Kogod School of Business, and Co-Director of the Internet Governance Lab (IGL).

Time: Wednesday, October 15, at 3:00 p.m.
Location: American University Library, Room 150 (1st Floor — look for directional signs)

This session explores how RAG-AI enhances traditional generative AI models by linking them with live data retrieval systems to deliver more precise and verifiable outputs. Dr. Cogburn will demonstrate how retrieval-augmented architectures combine real-time information with generative models to enhance research accuracy and depth.
