The Internet Governance Lab is looking for new junior fellows from American University. Our last year’s cohort, 3 first-year and 1 second-year undergraduate students, have been involved in several (unpaid) projects including interviewing and conducting podcasts with high-level Internet Governance leaders and a research project in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
AU's Internet Governance Lab Junior Fellows, Kathleen Scoggin, Walker Evans, and Alisha Changani are currently participating in the Generation Connect Youth Summit. The Summit being held in Kigali, Rwanda is hosted by the UN's International Telecommuncation Union Development Sector (ITU-D), which AU alumna Doreen Bogdan-Martin leads.
We are glad to announce the publication of a new open-access book by our Global Fellow and Deputy Director of the Center for Internet and Society, Francesca Musini, and Ksenia Ermoshina, a tenured researcher at the French National Centre for Scientific Research. The books is called Concealing for Freedom: The Making of Encryption, Secure Messaging and Digital Liberties.
The Internet Governance Lab, together with American University’s Institute on Disability and Public Policy, is partnering with the Digital Interests Lab at NYU and the Information Society Project at Yale Law School to host a series of conversations about Access & Accessibility in relation to governance research.
Our Distinguished Fellow Fiona M. Alexander recently published an opinion article on the need for the US to have a comprehensive tech policy. The 55th edition of the Hawai'i International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) is happening between January 3rd to 7th 2022 fully online. The Internet Governance Lab Faculty Co-Directors, Dr. Derrick Cogburn and Dr. Nanette Levinson, play multifaceted leadership roles in the conference.
